Georgetown MA Fire Department gets wildfire grant

The Massachusets VFA grant is available to non-profit rural or volunteer fire departments that primarily serve a community or city with a population of less than 10,000. The fire department must be made up of at least eighty percent (80%) call or volunteer firefighters. More information on this grant here

Georgetown MA Fire Department gets wildfire grant

The Georgetown Fire Department has been awarded a Department of Conservation and Recreation Volunteer Fire Assistance grant to help purchase wildfire-related gear.

The grant money will be used for a program Fire Chief Al Beardsley began last year providing all Georgetown firefighters with a set of brush fire gear. Beardsley will be purchasing 10 additional sets of pants, coats and helmets — five paid for by the grant, the other five through the department’s budget.
