The Governor’s Highway Safety Office provides grants to programs which are designed to reduce the number of fatalities, injuries and related economic losses resulting from traffic crashes on Tennessee’s roadways.
Local governments, academic institutions, and private non-profits can apply for National Highway Safety Transportation Administration pass-through funding for projects related to various areas of highway safety. EMS training and equipment is an eligible area of funding under this grant.
We expect this grant to be available in 2010 with an estimated due date in April.

Grant awarded to local fire department
NASHVILLE - State Rep. Mike Bell and State Sen. Dewayne Bunch have announced more than $35,000 in grants have been awarded to three local communities. The announcement comes after notification of the grants by the Governor's Highway Safety Office.
The Etowah Rescue and Rural Fire Department has been awarded $10,871 for emergency medical first responder training and equipment.
